I must say, I didn’t think I would see myself back in the saddle only a few years after graduating from schools. I played softball in high school and hung up the towel when I went to college because there just was not enough time, nor a good intramural team to play for. Shockingly, tonight, I will be playing a double header after three days of practice and some sore ass muscles. The ships are at it again.

My ship, along with a group of others has their own intramural softball team. && out of everyone who tried out for my ship’s team I am the only female that is on it! I think things are going to be a little on the edgy side because we are defending champions from Pascagoula, MI, when the ship was in the yards a few years back. Now we are playing completely different teams and the stakes are raised.

I have to do tricks when I catch the ball just to compete with the men. I’m sure they think I’m a weak link only because I’m a female. We’ll see, we’ll see. I went to the NEX last night and bought new cleats and new sliding shorts. I guess I’m as prepared as I’m going to get. Hopefully we’ll be on a rally. Wish us luck!
