C-Day is the start of Cassey’s Excellent Adventure.

I was really excited to get to Jacksonville from Charleston South Carolina. My friend Jess, had gotten out of the military a few days before and was at this exact time finishing up her last minute items before moving back to Idaho, so being able to stop by and see her just before she departed was a welcome part of my trip.

She had booked a farewell dinner at a Columbian BBQ restaurant with some of her friends from Jacksonville the night that I was arriving, and I was more than happy to oblige. I left Charleston later than expected as Lydia and I stopped for breakfast which was hella delicious.

When I did arrive later, Jess had already checked into a hotel room and asked me to stay with her for the next two nights, which was very generous. Plus a relief because it was so hot and humid outside, and after sweltering the night before I was excited for a shower and some friend time.

When I arrived to meet her, we did what old friends do, talked and talked, and talked some more. We have both grown to focus on health and wellness and exchanged ideas and things that we have been using. She introduced me to Witch Hazel (rose petal) smell, which target sells, and I showed her some of the essential oils I have recently been relying on. Before long, it was time for us to leave for dinner. After hastily getting ready we were off.

At the Colombian BBQ, Jess and I shared a plate, which was so absolutely delicious and kinds of different meats, vegetables, and chicken. After dinner we headed back to the hotel and turned in for the night.

The next morning, she took me to her favorite coffee shop/breakfast nook and I highly recommend it if you are in Jacksonville Florida. It is a local place called Brass Tacks. The Chai latte is very very good. Jess even had a little punch card she let me use while she opted for the Coronada which I have yet to try but would like to.

Afterwards we stopped at Target and REI, two of my favorite places for some health stuff and for me to grab a few last minute items to continue my journey with. Afterwards, at around 11am once Jess’s car was packed, we both left for Pensacola at the same time, with me fully understanding that I would be at least 1+ hours behind. 🙂 Nancy Mulligan is reliable and study, but not fast.

I arrived to Pensacola around 5pm and Jess was leaving to have dinner with her brother so I hung out with her cat Allen at the hotel and just caught up on work that I had been getting behind on. Plus there was a slew of great movies on tv an don’t have much time for those so that was really nice! Action and adventure, my favorite.

Jess came back late and the next morning we said our goodbyes. I was off to New Orleans and she was off to Nashville on her long haul trip to Idaho. It was great to see her and hang out. It has been so amazing seeing so many people from my life past and present on the journey South.

I am excited to get to New Orleans and experience the Creole culture for the first time. Catch the next article when it drops.
